Mokada Akiga wrote:I know what they SHOULD have fricken done, but is quite clear they don't wont to. ROLE BACK THE SERVER TO BEFORE THE UPDATE YESTERDAY AND START OVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If that was a viable option it would have happened already. Running the infrastructure to serve up an MMO has many different layers. Any one of those layers could have changed or been impacted from the OS on up. Trust me they are searching for the proverbial needle in a hay stack. I have stood in those shoes and I can guarantee you they are sh*tting their pants doing everything they can think of to resolve the issue. |

Muul Udonii wrote:Hi CCP; can you refuel my towers, please - I have two running out of fuel tonight and if I cant get on to fuel them before I go to bed Project Mayhem will probably kill them.
Thanks in advance.
Do you drive around in your car with your gas gauge on E? If I were worried about my POS I would make sure I had more than a day of juice left in it! LOL |

Terry Gillan wrote:Its fun, but getting too fast. This may take few days. Once you don't solve the problem in the first hour, then if you can't fix it in first day, it usually takes a week at least But I have to say, there has been a bit too much of updates. Hope CCP didn't buy into this agile approach hoax hype. Agile is not for the big, most complex systems! It works for a while and then it all falls apart.
Agile is a form of development execution, not a deployment or infrastructure model. We are assuming code changes with the new version are the culprit. It could literally be anything from bare metal up. |

Just think of all the new untouched Anoms in WH space! Glorious spawns of gas await. Whoops. Excuse me. |

Jian Mira wrote:Its a bit strange this downtime for EVE, i am surprised that they can't drill back an update so that we can run a version which does not have this new update. Surly they keep a backup of the existing system which we could login and carry on playing EVE...
It seems very unprofessional to make changes to a system which could break the game without having a backup plan.. Where i work we can restore servers at anytime, before and after updates...
I am a bit surprised they can't restore a version before the update was applied.... Am I wrong??
Yes you are wrong. If this was as simple as restoring from a backup you can bet it would have been done for hours. So much more behind the app that makes it all happen than just a specific version of code. |

Cephalosa Galactica wrote:Kato's Pete wrote:So with any luck we wont have a DT tomorrow morning. Like I posted before...if CCP was an American company, old IT team would have been fired 8 hours ago and a new team working on the problem would have a viable solution already, provided the company was willing to pay top notch pay...remember guys that the average salary of a CCP employee does not encourage that employee to work as hard, hence the pizza, and the pissed off costumers.
That might be the dumbest post on here today. Every operation has so many proprietary components there is no way they would fire everyone in the midst of a crisis and bring in a new team. They would certainly draw on any resources needed to resolve the problem, but the inquisition starts after the problem has been resolved. |
